Critical insight on navigating new legislation and regulations

Confused about how new regulations have changed your COBRA compliance obligations? Still trying to figure out the subsidy provisions and how to manage the new timelines? You’re not the only one!

In the past year and a half, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and the Department of Defense Appropriations Act (DoDAA) radically changed how COBRA continuation is offered and administered. An already complex law became more challenging with each new layer of regulations. Although ARRA’s premium subsidy is no longer available for individuals whose employment terminated after May 31, 2010, the subsidy does continue for eligible individuals who were already on COBRA before that date.  So employers and plan administrators will be dealing with the special rules and timelines related to the subsidy into the 3rd quarter of 2011.

Attend this one-hour COBRA seminar to get a review of basic COBRA law and the latest on the premium subsidy. We will cover the fundamentals of COBRA law, qualifying events, premiums and timelines. Then we will dig deeper into the subsidy and what it means to employers.

Participants will leave with a fundamental understanding of:

  • COBRA laws and the employer’s obligations
  • Eligibility & qualifying events
  • COBRA premium subsidy administration
  • A review of the most recent regulatory changes and their implications
  • COBRA dos and don’ts – and consequences
  • Considerations for selecting a COBRA administrator
